Reese Cook
I write romantic fantasy and Gothic romantic suspense about complicated people, dangerous worlds, and love that never requires surrender.
My stories tend to live in the gray areas—between justice and vengeance, duty and desire, strength and vulnerability, and the person the world expects you to be and the person you choose to become. I love morally complicated characters, sharp dialogue, impossible choices, and romances built between people who challenge one another without diminishing one another.
In the Crowns and Gods series, that means gods, kingdoms, political intrigue, and people trying to forge lives of their own beneath the weight of power and expectation. In No Saints in Corinborough, it means gaslight, murder, corruption, and a detective falling for the very woman he should probably be arresting.
I contain multitudes.
When I’m not writing, I can usually be found reading, researching something that began as a perfectly reasonable question and became a three-hour rabbit hole, or explaining to one of my cats why sitting directly on whatever I’m trying to accomplish is not actually helpful.
I believe the best love stories don't ask characters to become smaller for one another. They give them somewhere safe enough to become more fully themselves.
Those are the stories I want to tell.
